I was raised on a rural property at Holbrook in the Riverina of NSW completing my education through boarding school at the Albury High School before taking up a position in the petroleum industry.During my first career stage, I started at the bottom of the industry working my way up from service station attendant to long haul tanker driver and then having attained a solid working knowledge of the mechanics of the industry moved into petroleum retail sales. This culminated in my becoming a co-owner and director of Tereco Petroleum, one of the biggest petroleum distributors in Australia before finally selling out to Ampol in 1991.The second and third stages of my career, over the past 24 years, paralleled development of two separate businesses in the Godson Group, the first in successful oil and gas exploration in the Unites States and the second in the establishment and development of what has become one of Australasia’s leading Construction Chemical manufacturing businesses, Concrete Waterproofing Manufacturing Pty. Ltd trading as Xypex Australia.Success in all these instances has come from long term planning and a fierce adherence to the disciplines required to create lasting success. Growing up in a large and very close farming family created the resilience and fortitude that has enabled me to understand the fundamentals of recruiting strong and trustworthy people to work with and to help them develop their abilities to optimum potential while my strong negotiating skills coupled with my acute ability to quickly analyze financial data have created the steel like fabrication over which to build my prolonged success.I am what I do.
