At Ciena, I was responsible for managing the packet strategy and and sales engineering strategy for selected accounts.

At Hatteras Networks, built, organized and managed the worldwide (including NA/SA, EMEA and APAC) sales support systems engineering function and the worldwide customer support function to support the Hatteras Metro Ethernet aggregation and switching product. Managed the worldwide Overture Networks sales support organization. Was responsible for pre-sales and post-sales support including customer technical sales presentations, lab trials, field trials, and troubleshooting support.Prepared price quotes, wrote white papers and technical specifications, conducted technical training and solved customer technical problems.

Built, organized and managed the sales support systems engineering function.Developed and collected engineering and customer requirements for the Polaris Networks optical cross-connect and transport switch.Wrote white papers and made technical presentations to prospects and customers including RBOC, IXC, and CLEC companies.

Founded, developed and managed the engineering project that resulted in WilTel becoming the world’s first company to build and market a public frame relay network. This project resulted in an estimated $2M of free advertising for WilTel (who was relatively unknown at the time) in addition to the several million dollars in additional revenue.Provided third level customer support and sales support for frame relay, ATM, and private line customers.
