• My primary responsibility is as project lead for our Reach Edinburgh project, which works with 300+ S4-S6 pupils from state schools across the south east of Scotland interested in pursuing a career in Law, Medicine and Vet Medicine.• I liaise with internal and external stakeholders to arrange, promote and support events and activities aimed at developing pupils’ understanding of each of our subject strands. Stakeholders include: Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), Royal College of Physicians, Brodies LLP PRIME Initiative• Liaised with staff from other institutions to organise and deliver a joint offer holder event in Inverness for applicants from Widening Participation backgrounds.•Took the lead in organising, promoting and partially delivering career exploration events for: Engineering, Nursing, Social Work and Vet Medicine. The Nursing event was a collaborative event with Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh Napier University nursing staff.• Providing advice and guidance to pupils on my project about admission into Law, Medicine or Vet Medicine.• Collaborating with Lothians Equal Access Programme for Schools (LEAPS) staff to help co-deliver 1:1 interviews with S6 pupils thinking of applying to university. This involved liaising with LEAPS and school staff to arrange suitable times to go into schools and hold interviews with pupils.• Assisting other teams within Student Recruitment and Admissions (SRA) team to deliver their core events. Events include: Undergraduate Open Days, SQA and A-level clearing call centres and Welcome Week activities.

• Single member of the Student Recruitment team with responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring the QMU Home and RUK Student Recruitment strategy. • Developing and implementing a conversion strategy and timeline of activities for Scotland and RUK Markets. • Attending UCAS Higher Education Exhibitions (HEEs), School Careers Conventions and other recruitment events across Scotland and the UK. This involves providing 1:1 information, advice and guidance, including entry requirements, to prospective students. • Providing detailed admissions and application advice and guidance face-to-face, via email and over the phone. • Developing and delivering presentations and workshops to potential applicants, their parents and other key influencers to promote and raise awareness of QMU. • Organising and assisting in delivery of a range of on campus events including individual and group visits, Applicant Interview/Visit Days for individual subject areas and campus tours. • Responsible for monitoring Student Recruitment and Student Ambassador budgets • Working with QMU Marketing team to plan and deliver marketing and conversion campaigns to support UK Student Recruitment activities. • Providing support to University’s recruitment activities through preparation of promotional material and literature, including proofreading of prospectuses and developing information leaflets. • Management of QMU Student Ambassador Scheme. This includes promotion, selection, training and line-management of 30 Student Ambassadors. • Participating in collaborative activities between Scottish HEIs including Highland Tour (Scotland) and Scottish Modern Universities tour (Northern Ireland). • Planning and organising workload and events schedule ahead of time and liaising with other teams when short of resources to cover events and activities.

• Completed first part of PgDip in Careers Guidance and Development through distance-learning, gaining a PgCert• Working with clients in school, post-school and college.• Developing understanding of and using Career Management Skills (CMS) with clients to allow them to develop the autonomy to progress in their career independently.• Developing knowledge of key Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) for East and Midlothian as well as country-wide.

• Working as part of a small team of 6 supporting graduate Engineers and Modellers. • Assimilating various sources of information and compiling proposals, including pricing, for clients.• Bringing together data from Engineers and Modellers to compile final reports for issue to clients. • Using software packages such as MapInfo and InfoWorks to build models and run simulations for projects.• Travelling across Scotland to carry out site visits when required. • Maintaining website and social media profiles. • Writing and proofreading written materials such as blog posts and case studies.

• Working as part of a small team to deliver a transitional education programme for 16-25 year old with complex additional needs. • Planning and organising activities for students to take part in. • Forward planning and dynamic risk assessing activities and situations when out in the community and at the project. • Using my interpersonal skills and remaining calm and professional when dealing with difficult situations involving students • Making decisions on the most suitable course of action to take when dealing with situations (e.g Physical Intervention) • Keeping a detailed record of activities carried out with students for the purposes of learning outcomes and reporting at a later stage. • Learning new skills such as British Sign Language to work with specific students.

• 4 month extension from WP Graduate Internship within UK and EU Undergraduate Student Recruitment.• Providing accurate and high quality advice and guidance to prospective students regarding entrance requirements and general information about the University by the following means: face-to-face, over the phone, via email, and via social media. • Delivering talks and workshops to prospective students and parents on topics such as: Choosing and Applying to University, Writing Personal Statements and Studying at The University of Edinburgh.• Travel across the UK to attend Higher Education Conventions (HECs) and deliver talks at schools.• Involved in organisation and delivery of Undergraduate Open Days. This included liaising with academic and professional staff across the University.

• 1-year internship in Widening Participation (WP) team providing a key insight into the issues surrounding Widening Access to Higher Education.• Working with prospective students from under-represented backgrounds including those who will be first in their family to attend university, those who come from schools with low-progression to university and those who come from areas where relatively few people go on to university.• Partnership working with Lothians Equal Access Programme for Schools (LEAPS).• Involvement in various projects including Pathways to the Professions and REACH, which work with prospective local students interested in pursuing studies in high demand subject areas including: Medicine, Vet Medicine, Law, and Architecture. • Delivery of talks and workshops to prospective students mainly in local WP schools, but sometimes those further afield.• Planning and delivery of Kickstart and Sutton Trust Summer Schools.• General administrative duties for all projects including collating and writing evaluation reports as well as assisting with destination reports for previous LEAPS students.

• Leading campus tours for visiting prospective students, parents and advisers from the UK and across the world.• Assisting with Open Day set up and working at Open Days. • General office administration including assisting with mailing.• Travelling across the UK on occasion to attend events with members of Recruitment staff to provide a student perspective at talks.

• Working as part of a team to provide a safe and secure environment for customers at large- and small-scale events (e.g. T in the Park, rugby matches and music concerts).• Using verbal communication and interpersonal skills to de-escalate volatile situations.• Cultural awareness working with customers and members of staff from a range of backgrounds.• Training in Pit Safety and qualification in Door Supervision.• Gained Security Industry Authority (SIA) Door Supervisor License.
