Technical Officer - Spill & Flow - Cheshire & Merseyside. As Technical Officer within Spill & Flow, I assist the Production and Network Teams with specific data including building trends and analysing erroneous data to ultimately help build a picture of our current status in relation to our environmental performance.This enables the Cheshire & Merseyside area to hone in on their work whilst I develop strategic action plans to improve performance and our overall environmental impact.

- Diagnosing and repairing faulty EDM (Event duration monitoring equipment) which can include ultrasonic instruments and controllers, HMI and telemetry.- Using monitoring software to analyse and build trends to determine root cause issues with field equipment.- Create new techniques for testing and surveying assets to create a best practice approach for maintenance and set up.- Work within Ww Network and Ww Process sites to advise on issues being faced.- Liaise with Technical Analysts to build a full picture of what is happening with spill & flow assets within the business.

Team Leader within signalling maintenance and faulting, I had been in this role permanently since the beginning of 2020. Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of maintenance and fault cover when on shift for the West Coast Mainline and branch lines within the Warrington Delivery Unit. The role involved working to various standards to ensure that the infrastructure remains safe and compliant. Safety was my main priority when leading a team within the infrastructure, keeping up with current standards and safeguarding my team members to make certain that “Everyone Goes Home Safe Every Day”. When responding to faults within the infrastructure I used my knowledge and experience to utilise monitoring software to assist in fast and effective fault-finding techniques.

As a technician it was my role to support and assist the team leader in faulting and maintenance in a high pressure role working on the West Coast Mainline and surrounding branch lines.

Becoming an operative gave me incredible insight and wealth of knowledge of signalling from which to build upon. I pushed myself to learn the role from more experienced staff, this was also complemented by putting myself forward for as many training courses as possible. Being an operative also allowed me to learn the area in which I worked so that down the line I could be as safe and efficient as possible without compromising anything.Whilst working as an operative I took the opportunity to act as a technician for 18 months to cover long term sick leave, before taking on the role full time.

During my time as an apprentice I gained knowledge and experience of the signalling discipline whilst also gaining relevant qualifications.
