With direct line management responsibility for Procurement Managers and Senior Procurement Officers, I deliver effective and efficient procurement services to departments of the Council, its partners and other external organisations. Developing, implementing and managing the resources, processes and spend within a specific procurement category, I have embedded strategic sourcing and category management and identified cost effective ways to develop and improve procurement practice. I actively seek and gain added value from strategic management of contracts, through effective contract management techniques, including supply chain management and supplier relationship management (SRM) and development.Resolving more complex and high risk contract and performance management issues, I achieve commercial advantages for the County Council and influence the direction of procurement. Deputising for the Procurement Business Partner and Head of Procurement as required in consultative working groups, I have a direct influence on the total spend for your specific procurement category. By managing and achieving income targets, I award and manage contracts, some of which are of significant value.

Responsible for the leadership of a team within SCS providing procurement and related services to various clients globally. Management of procurement services in the International Offices (IOs) ensuring that they are providing the same level of quality output across the board.Part of the Senior Management Team contributing to strategy, business identification, development, proposals and winning. Initial role was to undertake the analysis of the business dynamics and to formulate a revised business plan for this subsidiary trading company providing it with more focused leadership and management. This included A review of the business undertaken and planned, identifying and redicung the incidence of unprofitable business; Strengthening and re-documentation of sales and procurement procedures, to ensure compliance with corporate policies; Re-structuring of the teams to align individual skills with the products offered.This led to the introduction of:Key account management principles for profitable clients;Staff, targets set to increase repeat, sustainable business from all existing clients and to investigate new markets for our products;Development of key individuals;Ownership and empowerment as the changes were carried out involving the staff at all levels.On the day to day operations, I was responsible for all procurement work carried out under the company’s name and ensuring that it returned a sustainable profit. During my tenure the business developed a B2B website, moved USAID into Kuwait, built the USAID and UK Government camps in the Green Zone in Iraq, purchased and transported a modular Gas Compressor to Basra in Southern Iraq and supported the UK Camp in Basra.
