With a background in chemistry, materials engineering and waste management, I have strong interests in circular economy and the potential of wastes as secondary material resources. I am passionate about facilitating a necessary transition towards a resource efficient circular economy and the social, environmental and economic benefits this will yield. This transition is crucial for sustainable development and economic growth in the UK and achieving prosperity for society. This will require industrial/academic collaboration involving key stakeholders from all stages of product lifecycles, as well as a new generation of skilled engineering graduates for the UK workforce who are familiar with the concepts and benefits of circular economy, and the tools, strategies and processes through which this transition can be achieved.Through working in waste management and my postgraduate training in collaboration with industry, I have gained extensive experience of the WEEE sector, and considerable knowledge of the waste sector and the legislative instruments that govern it, having built good relationships with industry, WRAP and Welsh Government as major stakeholders. Since completion of my EngD, I have worked hard in my role as a TTF to improve my research skills and knowledge of the manufacturing side of the ‘circle’ for printed green-technologies. I have also been involved in establishing projects which address circular economy challenges for the manufacturing sector, drawing on all my experience. It is now my ambition to find a position here in Wales which enables me to utilize my knowledge, skills and network of contacts to affect progress towards circular economy more broadly, helping to create the next generation of skilled postgraduates to enter the workforce and affect change, and create new links between academia and industry for successful innovation towards a more resource and energy efficient manufacturing economy.
