The Field Staff position at Second Nature was comprised of various responsibilities within many roles.Roles of the position included outdoor guide, educator of the natural elements, therapeutic counselor, crisis interventionist and liaison between client and therapist.-Educated about personal and group safety in the wilderness-Facilitated meaning-making processes about each client"s emotional process in the new environment-Facilitated one-on-one counseling conversations about mental health related topics (eating disorders, family systems issues, depression, and substance abuse)-Co-faclitated group therapy -Intervened through use of metaphor with the natural environment to help clients internalize their experiences -Utilized crisis interventions to maintain safety-Implemented all such interventions via a strengths-based, interpersonal, therapeutic approach.
