Author of a free open source photo collection manager and viewer with content-based search and many other features. The query is expressed either as a rough sketch painted by the user or as another image supplied. The searching algorithm makes use of multiresolution wavelet decomposition of the query and database images.

- Design and implementation of a distributed supervisory and data acquisition system for Oil and Gas pipelines. Based on the Eclipse RCP platform for rich client applications, real-time relational databases and data distribution middlewares (OMG DDS specification).- Design of a multiplatform laboratory automation and control system that monitors and controls a pilot plant to study corrosion under high-pressure, anaerobic, high-sulfured environments. Built over the Eclipse RCP, using a LECIS-based XML-RPC protocol we defined for communication between master task controller stations and remote laboratory experiment driver modules.- Design and implementation of an SMS gateway using JMS queues for routing messages from interactive applications on a major content-provider portal in Brazil (Globo.com) to mobile operators using multiple HTTP-based (POX, XML-RPC, SOAP) protocols. Performance and scalability was the major focus. Also designed a similar gateway for billing and clearing user transactions related to mobile products on behalf of other server-side applications. - Development of a 3-tier J2EE web applications with high user demands (5000+ HTTP sessions) using EJB technology (JBoss), AJAX interface, clustered memory caching (JBoss-Cache) and Oracle databases.

Cooperated mostly on the "Western Union" account. Main activities: - Constant interaction with an american team and contact with mature software development methodologies. - Development on the IBM AS/400 platform for the data warehouse area of an electronic money transfer business. - Improvements on existing COBOL systems and transaction summary databases.

- Prospecting and comparison of open source content-management systems to be widely used by the Brazilian government and development of content-rich web-sites using Plone (the chosen platform).- Integration of legacy ADABAS database systems from the Brazilian Internal Revenue Service to a ZOPE web frontend by implementing an adaptor.- Configuration of a clustered Apache-ZOPE deployment with load-balancing.- Integration of X.509 digital certificates and LDAP authentication to ZOPE portals.
