During my 25-year career in print and online journalism, I’ve been fortunate to work as a writer, editor and a member of a management team. I’ve worked in all sides of content production and I understand the balance required to get things done in a timely, professional manner. Here's my background:Content generation: I pride myself on being versatile and fast, and in my ability to communicate through a variety of media. In my current role at The Athletic, I work with a team of NHL writers to publish multiple stories daily, several of which include multimedia aspects. During my three years with the Los Angeles Kings, as the team’s on-staff reporter, I wrote stories, took and published photos, shot and edited video, created podcasts and moderated chats.Editing: In my junior year of college, the Daily Breeze hired me as a full-time copy editor. In my later roles as Senior Editor at The Athletic and as Deputy Sports Editor of the Daily News, I provide the first read to stories and worked with writers on improving and developing their stories. I have a sharp eye for finding and correcting errors. Beause of that, my own work is clean and does not require post-production editing. I pride myself on engaging headlines and working with writers to sharpen the focus of their stories.Managing: For the past two years, I have managed writers at The Athletic. I also did so for two years at the Daily News. I edit copy, maintain daily budgets and communicate with writers, colleagues in other departments and superiors about content. I work with writers to generate story ideas, then communicate with them as those ideas turn into successful stories, both during the writing and editing process.Social media: For nine years, I maintained a blog as part of my coverage of the Los Angeles Kings. The blog started at the Daily News and became the paper's most-read pro sports blog, and drew more readers than the Dodgers and Lakers blogs combined. Because of its success, in 2009 the Kings hired me to serve as their official writer and blogger. In my first two years, the Kings’ website went from the bottom five to the top five, in total hits, among all NHL websites.
