  • Sustainable Conservation
Senior Director, Water For The Future Program
Sustainable Conservation Jan 2024 - Present
    Sacramento, California, United States
As California faces a flashier climate -- from drought to deluge -- we need a strategy for a secure water future. • Matereal
    Advisor
    Matereal Jun 2023 - Present
Matereal is on a mission to decarbonize and detoxify the chemicals industry–starting with plastics. Matereal's first product, Polaris, is a biobased, non-isocyanate alternative to polyurethane (PU), a versatile and toxic form of plastic that is found everywhere, including your clothes, your walls, and even your bed.Matereal's beachhead market is coatings and adhesives in fashion. The fashion industry alone is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of the global plastic production to make textiles, coatings, and adhesives. At end of life, these products pollute our air, land, and water.Matereal's biobased plastics have several advantages: they’re made from sustainable materials with a smaller carbon footprint and multiple end-of-life-options, all safe for our land and water. The price of our biobased plastics? Cost competitive if not cheaper. And the impact? It’s at the gigaton scale.

  • Mammoth Water
    Founder + Ceo (Acquired)
    Mammoth Water Mar 2014 - Dec 2021

Mammoth Water, a public benefit corporation, was a Techstars-backed company and accepted into the prestigious Techstars Sustainability Accelerator in partnership with The Nature Conservancy in 2019. Mammoth Water was acquired by ERA Economics in 2021.I am proud of my track record in building and shipping products that require a high degree of subject matter expertise and trust-building. One of my notable accomplishments was leading the development of TAPP H2O, a mobile app and SaaS platform that helps farmers track water use data, benchmark irrigation performance, and submit regulatory compliance documentation. TAPP H2O improves understanding of field-level water trends and catalyzes behavior change in conservation. We also launched the most advanced water markets in the world, called "smart markets." Mammoth Water’s smart markets provided a centralized hub to trade water rights, used a fair and neutral price discovery mechanism, and automated regulatory compliance through tailored algorithmic clearing. Mammoth Water launched the world's first active smart market for groundwater in February 2014 (Platte Basin, NE) and first active smart market for surface water in May 2016 (Yakima Basin, WA).
