As a Social Responsibility (Stakeholder Engagement) Specialist, I contribute to the management of the operation’s social and human rights impacts and risks to build a mutually beneficial long-term relationship with the Mine stakeholders. For this, I was responsible for conducting reviews and assessments to understand the area of influence and stakeholders, support the analysis and development of stakeholder engagement planning, carry out stakeholder engagement plans and monitor and evaluate the results of engagement activities. I also played the role of a liaison between the mine and our external stakeholders to keep the flow of information

The position provides leadership in the development, implementation and management of Newmont Ghana’s Project Affected Persons/Communities Livelihood Re-establishment with key focus on Agricultural Development as well as the company’s broader community initiatives on Agriculture, Water, Education, Health and Infrastructure to support the plan and growth prospects within the region.This involves managing a team that handles complex relationships and obligations with multiple stakeholders and ensure the provision of environment that enables compliance with relevant national legislation, company policy, IFC Standards and international best practices. The position has responsibility for the development of policies and implementation of programs for the effective General Community Development, Livelihood Improvement Programs, Sustainable Water Supply and Agricultural Development in Ahafo, thus providing alignment with corporate strategic direction and commitments. In addition to this, the incumbent shall be the core person of contact with Government Agencies, Traditional Authorities, Non-Governmental Organizations and allied institutions/consultants on all issues of Community Development and Livelihoods improvements relating to; Small and Micro-Enterprises, Agricultural Development, sustainable water supply, sanitation, health, educational and economic empowerment in Ahafo. He/she will assist communities to demonstrate an understanding of community ownership and management through effective operation and maintenance of the systems and facilities and that beneficiaries of such facilities shall be empowered to develop the mentality, knowledge and skills to sustain the facilities through effective management.This job is supposed to enable the company acquire and maintains its social license to operate, build its reputational capital and give the Company easy access to land for mine operations and expansion.

The position has responsibility for the development of policies for the effective execution of Livelihood Programs and Agricultural Development in Ahafo, thus providing alignment with corporate strategic direction. In addition to this, the incumbent shall be the core person of contact with Government Agencies, Traditional Authorities, Non-Governmental Organizations and allied institutions on all issues of Agricultural Development in Ahafo. This includes, responsibilities related to Agricultural programs of both impact mitigation and broader community development effort, the identification of arable land banks and agricultural land use monitoring within the project area.

Implement, manage and continuously improve Newmont Ghana Agricultural Improvement and Land Access Program (AILAP) for people directly impacted by the project in order to support the company’s business objectives. This involves managing a team that handles the complex relationships and obligations with multiple stakeholders and ensures compliance with relevant national legislations, and company policy. The position is also responsible for assisting the Agriculture and Land Administration Superintendent with the formulation of policies, procedures and plans for NGGL ESR Management approval to effectively and efficiently manage the mitigation program of AILAP. This position represents the Company as required in dealings with the communities, Traditional authorities, Government agencies and non-government organizations related to the AILAP Program with the programs associated links with land tenure, land access, facilitation of land access by project impacted people, development and management of Land Banks system, implementation assistance with agricultural and livelihood development initiatives and agricultural land use monitoring within the project area.
