CurrentI work as a genealogist and family historian - lots of interesting stories here! I give talks, write articles and am undertake research into family history, particularly around Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. I contribute to various family history sites and have conducted research into the Caunt, Camm, Axe, Ludlam, Budgell, Waterfall, Sheldon, Tucker, Rooke, Sanderson/Saunderson and Langfield families amongst others. Recent talks include 'Women, Waterloo and Afterwards' and 'Bigamy and Fraud in Victorian Britain'. Articles available via https://independent.academia.edu/RichardAxe. Worked on a regional (Yorkshire) project around skills and industrial digital technologies (IDTs) for the textile industry. Previously worked on a four year pan-European project called Textile Clothing Business Labs (TCBL) to encourage and stimulate collaborative approaches to business in the Fashion and Textile sector, so plenty of experience working with partners from The Netherlands through to Romania.Also spent many years working with small digital companies to help improve business skills or help small companies understand how ICT can work for them. Identified and developed the ICT sector in South Yorkshire. Created and organised the "Get IT Right" b2b ICT exhibition (Sheffield 1999) and worked on Club UK Online and the ICT Directory to bring business customers together with digital expertise; project management for European funded projects; data cleansing; business assistance to ICT companies. Identified and brokered a joint venture between four ICT companies to create a new company with complementary skills. Provided tutorial support to individuals in the ICT business through the University of Durham's Advise IT programme. Worked with Yorkshire Forward to project manage a satellite broadband development for SMEs within Yorkshire.
