Project Engineer
Working as part of the Refurbishment team at Babcock Pty Ltd, I was responsible for managing the Spares Program which supplies spare Babcock components and sub-assemblies to Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC) for installation on the Collins Class Submarines. My tasks and responsibilities included;- Receipt, review and acknowledgement of ASC purchase orders for high volume spare components and sub-assemblies.- Reviewing technical drawings and developing supplier RFQ documentation to ensure components are correctly ordered with adequate Objective Quality Evidence, including Hull-Integrity and SUBSAFE components and sub-assemblies. - Scheduling, monitoring and reporting progress of CAT A Milestones (for customer delivery) and CAT C Milestones (internal milestones to track progress).- Coordination of project team to ensure CAT C Milestone dates are met, therefore guaranteeing the CAT A Milestones are also met and components are delivered on time to our customer.- Reviewing and providing final sign-off of Babcock MDRs for spare components and sub-assemblies prior to delivery to customer.- Identification of inefficiencies in current practice to simplify procedures and improve project team productivity. My achievements in this role included;- Maintaining the KPI requirement of greater than 95% on time delivery for CAT A Milestones.- Improving the internal CAT C Milestones from 65% on time completion to 85% on time completion throughout my time in the role.
Project Engineer / Planner
KIPS Device Project Engineer.Shortly after commencing work at KAEFER I became responsible for pioneering and then managing the Kaefer Insulated Pipe Screening (KIPS) program in Adelaide. The program involves using the OpenVision NDT real-time radiography machine to screen insulated pipes to detect indications of corrosion under insulation. These indication points can be later targeted with traditional radiography testing to determine wall losses as part of a risk based inspection program. The device can also detect weld locations, water/ice in insulation and confirm insulation reliability, as well as the potential to detect asbestos insulation, all without the need to remove any cladding. My responsibilities in this role included;- Completing budget estimates and quotes.- Scheduling the movements of the machine and operator labour to fit with client requirements.- Preparation of radiation safety documentation and procedures to comply with state and national requirements.- Compiling and submitting company and individual radiation licencing/registration to statutory authorities.- Report quality assurance.- Machine capability presentations and site demonstrations at client facilities. I also acted as an assistant to the KAEFER Radiation Safety Officer and I was a licenced industrial radiographer and operator of the OpenVision NDT device in South Australia and New South Wales (now expired).

Working in a secondment position at Santos Ltd in Adelaide, I was responsible for the project planning behind the statutory internal inspections and repair projects for category 5 & 6 liquid storage tanks within Santos’ facilities in the Cooper Basin and Port Bonython.My tasks and responsibilities included:- Preparing long range capital expenditure budget submissions for upcoming projects.- Developing project schedules and budgets, and continually refining these as the project progresses.- Presenting project information to the asset owners for internal project approval and preparing ‘Authority for Expenditure’ documentation for Joint Venture approval. - Preparing and distributing work-packs and ‘Scope of Work’ documentation for tender, to designate on-site job instructions. - Preparing project documentation for asset owner approval, including the project execution plan, EHS management plan and risk register.- Submitting site resource requirements through Oracle eAM work orders, and managing subcontractors on site.- Procurement of long and short lead time equipment, materials and consumables.- Monitoring and controlling expenditure for projects valued between $500,000 and $2,500,000.- Coordinating changes to plant data (drawings, procedures, etc) via Santos’ PDCR system.
