Phd Student Computational Mechanics At Civil Engineering

Delft

- In my PhD, I was interested in developing computer models that can predict crack propagation in metals under fatigue loading. My project, EUROS, was directed towards applying this method to model crack growth in offshore wind turbines. Furthermore, I numerically investigated pit corrosion due to, for example salt water, in offshore structures that are under mechanical stress. - This work has resulted in three scientific publications so far. - Furthermore, I have supervised 2 students during my PhD trajectory.

Sep 2016 - Sep 2021

Tour Guide

Noordwijk

I had a weekend and holiday job at the museum Space Expo. Here, I acted as a tour guide on the ESA ESTEC tours provided by the museum. Other days I worked as a floor manager in which I was responsible for providing the visitors a pleasant experience.

May 2009 - Nov 2016

Graduate Student

Tno

Delft

I performed my Master thesis at TNO at their Structural Dynamics Department. Here, I researched local buckles in shell structures. I developed an analytical method that can be used to predict unstable post-buckling behaviour in the case of a multi-axial state of stress. This work resulted in a scientific publication.

Aug 2015 - Jun 2016

Internship Vehicle Dynamics Cae

Gothenburg, Sweden

I performed a 6 month internship at the vehicle dynamics CAE department of Volvo Cars. I worked on high speed braking, setting up a vehicle model in MapleSim (Multi-body software), comparing bushing models, converting K& C test data to CarMaker and performing computational analysis of flexible bodies using Abaqus for multi-body software.

Feb 2015 - Jul 2015

Engineer

Delft

The goal of our team was to build the world’s fastest human powered bicycle. In September 2013 we succeeded to break the record with a velocity of 133.8 km/h. I was responsible for the design of the aerodynamic shell, which was developed using CFD software and wind tunnel tests. Moreover, I had secondary tasks helping in the production of both metal and composite parts. Furthermore, I set up a camera system that enabled the cyclist to see without a front window.
