Having moved to Vancouver from the UK in 2007, I joined the TNS client-service team working on a range of accounts including TELUS, BC Hydro, FortisBC, Translink, the Canadian Tourism Commission and Destination BC (among others). As a Senior Research Associate, I am involved in all aspects of the project, from client consultation and design to analysis, interpretation and presentation. While involved in all types of research, I have developed a specialty in brand and communications, including brand equity and advertising research.

Before moving to Canada in 2007 and joining the TNS office in Vancouver, I spent four years at TNS' global head office in London, in the Worldpanel Division as a Consumer Insight Director, providing analysis and insight across major FMCG retailers and manufacturers in the UK. Clients included Nestle, PepsiCo, P&G, Masterfoods, Paramount Pictures, Sony BMG, Virgin Media, Universal, Shell, Texaco, Esso, TOTAL and Disney. Projects were varied and covered all aspects of consumer research and analysis, including consumer segmentation, promotional analysis, purchase behaviour and category planning. Projects were usually delivered through presentations to clients, workshops or written reports.

The Category Analyst Manager role was a new role created to manage a team of 8 analysts to support the Trading Division within Safeway. The team was formed after I joined Safeway as a Senior analyst and successfully won approval for a new team to be created, following a period of consultation and detailed proposals to the Board. The objective of the new team was to drive the business forward through better category management and consumer analysis. 8 analysts supported 150 buyers and Category Managers, by providing regular reports, category plans, ad-hoc project work and joint projects with suppliers. In 2002 the team also completed a complete Category Management program which re-shaped the Safeway offering.

Joined Elf Oil UK to establish a new analyst team to support the Forecourt shop non-fuel business (convenience retailing). As part of an ongoing project to develop the non-fuels business, the team worked on merchandising and and the non-fuel offer, as well as supporting the development of new-format convenience stores.
