Design and build prototype component test stands, install and test individual parts using those test stands, also modify new components to fit current machines or older parts to fit prototype machines, will also test complete current, prototype and competitive machines.

  As a Mechanical Lab Technician my job varies quite a bit. On some days I have fabricated prototype parts (welding and machining), installed those parts onto a larger assembly and then run a full machine performance test. Other times I've taken sub-assembles, built test fixtures around them, programmed PLC's (Crouzet M3's) to operate the fixture and ran the entire assembly. Sometimes those tests may only run for a few hours, other times they may run for a year (with part updates). After most of the tests are completed data acquired during the test would then be transferred into a MS Excel and/or MS Word file to generate a report which is then given to the test requestor.
