I was responsible for the proper alignment, calibration, testing and final qualification of the Apache Helicopter’s infrared targeting and night vision sensors within a fast pace production environment. I derived methods for verification of optical lenses, which improved the overall quality and decreased the failure rate of units under test. I assisted engineering in finding methodologies to improve test and assembly techniques. I performed test software verification for next generation upgrades. I trouble shot alignment problems due to electronic, optic, or manufacturing errors to the component level. I verified optical lenses, mirrors and sensors for cleanliness, serviceability, and proper installation. I calibrated units to extremely close tolerance specifications. I verified proper completion of required government and DRS paperwork. I also maintained the labs tooling and test fixtures. I prioritized changes and adjusted workload to accommodate company, vendor, and customer needs.

I was responsible for the mechanical build up and inspection of the next generation Mobile Launch Platform power supplies. I wrote integration procedures that resulted in a 200% increase in build up efficiency thus lowering costs and cycle time of the power supplies. I tracked project schedules and parts to maintain a consistent flow of the project. I reviewed drawings for completeness and errors and submitted findings to engineering for changes. I performed Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for routine and non-routine tasks. I worked closely with internal and external customers to resolve planning, prioritization, and technical issues. I trained and mentored technicians on procedures for the integration of complex electrical and mechanical systems. I worked autonomously and within groups to manufacture various ground support equipment for NASA using diagrams and blueprints. I maintained ISO 9001 certification standards within the technician group.

I interpreted engineering drawings and built International Space Station hardware in accordance with company standards and practices, government standards, and OSHA requirements. I interfaced with management and engineering to facilitate work plans, schedules, requirements and technical instructions and procedures. I utilized inspection tools to identify quality non-conformances. I was responsible for maintaining records and ensuring correctness of data entered in Work Authorizing Documents in accordance with company procedures. I developed criteria and wrote safety inspection documents for ground support equipment, which ultimately facilitated Boeing’s VPP certification by OSHA. I utilized root cause analysis theory, 5 whys, to solve various integration problems within the technician group. I also served on two separate “5 S” teams to categorize and document transferable ground support equipment and flight hardware from the Space Lab program to the International Space Station program. These teams cut costs for redundant hardware and tooling. I trained technicians on a wide variety of ground support equipment. I maintained documentation of hazardous materials located in the “SAA” Satellite Accumulation Areas. I served on several process improvement teams addressing either safety concerns or efficiency issues. The company adopted many of the recommendations suggested and they are still in place today.
