I am currently a Program Officer (Assoc. Program Director) in the Division of Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems (ENG/ECCS). My portfolio includes cross-cutting initiatives between ECCS's three core program clusters, and I currently serve as the lead Program Officer in the Electronic, Photonic, and Magnetic Devices (EPMD) program. In addition to core programs, I also lead ECCS’s international partnerships and lead agency agreements, including UK/EPSRC, Swiss/SNSF, and India/MeitY. I also manage ECCS activities in the Engineering Research Initiation (ERI) and Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) programs, as well as the National Nanotechnology Coordinate Infrastructure (NNCI), an agency-wide program that provides researchers from academia, small and large companies, and government with access to university user facilities with leading-edge fabrication and characterization tools, instrumentation, and expertise within all disciplines of nanoscale science, engineering and technology.As a Program Officer I conduct merit review of incoming proposals and make new research grants, and I oversee and manage existing awards and large-scale infrastructure projects during the research and operations phases. I also serve on multiple working groups to develop new funding opportunities in response to the changing research landscape and evolving national research priorities.

My work supports the strategic and programmatic activities of the division of Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems (ECCS) in the Directorate for Engineering at NSF. Duties and responsibilities:- Conducts qualitative and quantitative research to develop reports, studies, and analyses on science/engineering topics;- Performs literature analyses and summarizes findings of prior impact (scientific, technical, economic, and/or societal) of division’s portfolio;- Works with program officers to develop logic models for program assessment and evaluation; - Draws on knowledge of program portfolios and results to fulfill data requests from internal and external stakeholders;- Participates in NSF and interagency activities related to assessment and evaluation of programs in science and engineering research & education;- Supports and provides outreach activities for the division;- Provides guidance to division and programs on results-oriented activities;- Draws on knowledge of program portfolios to assist in the merit review and award oversight processes, particularly for the division’s multidisciplinary activities;- Serves as the division’s interface to public relations and press-related activities concerning science and engineering programs;- Supports and provides outreach activities for the division, including creation of research presentations highlighting NSF's work and its funded research;- Writes science news articles highlighting transformative research supported by NSF;- Performs ongoing evaluation and assessment of division business processes in order to provide recommendations for improvement.

Conducted research on the shared role of the Smithsonian and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the development of American ornithology, conservation ecology, and federal wildlife policy. My research took place in the Smithsonian Institution Archives and at the National Museum of Natural History.

I received my Ph.D. in the History of Science from Johns Hopkins University, where I focused on evolutionary and behavioral biology in the 19th and 20th centuries. My research was supported in part by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. While researching and writing my dissertation, I also served as a teaching assistant in several large courses and smaller seminars. In 2015 I received a Dean's Teaching Fellowship to design and teach an upper-level interdisciplinary seminar on the history of behavioral and cognitive science for undergraduates in the sciences and the humanities. After defending my dissertation, I began a postdoctoral fellowship at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.

Managed daily operations for a large, non-profit association (2,000+ members), overseeing all aspects of finance, IT, program management, communications & outreach, event planning, political advocacy, continuing education, and staff supervision. Developed methods to grow the chapter through quantitative analysis of membership portfolio, and created reports and visual presentations for the Board of Directors and Membership Committee.

Planned and managed executive education seminars (approximate 48 per year) focused on business strategy best practices for C-suite officers across Fortune 500 companies. Oversaw data collection and analysis for the meetings department data team, drove reporting compliance, and created portfolio analyses to inform firm-wide strategy.

Managed administrative, IT, and accounting functions for a large, non-profit association (2,000+ members). Planned and managed all chapter events, in addition to overseeing the continuing education program.
