As a Patrol Officer, I was responsible for patrol of the Red, Assiniboine, Seine and LaSalle Rivers, and assorted retention ponds. I ensured the safety of all persons who utilize these waterways, and was responsible for the enforcement of all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations (Criminal Code, Liquor Control Act, Environmental Protection Act, Off-Road Vehicle Act, Frozen Waterways Act, Fisheries Act, Provincial Statutes and City by-laws)Responded to all emergencies on and adjacent to the waterways within the City of Winnipeg, such as boating mishaps, drownings, misadventure and missing persons. Provided water and ice safety lectures to elementary schools near waterways. Worked seasonally from 1989 to 1998, then full time from 1998 to 2000.
