SUMMARY: Lead the Insurance and risk management program for the Australian entity of this global leader in the mining, production and marketing of inorganic minerals and chemicals, which supports a workforce of 4,400 globally, with 6 locations in WA and more than 20 locations worldwide. Provide internal Insurance support in respect to programme design, placement and loss prevention strategy and reporting.Investigation, preparation presentation and negotiation of complex insurance claims in operations across the globe.Drafting new organisation-wide safety management standards, I created and rolled out a global fatal risk prevention program and global corporate EHS Management Standard. Auditing environment and safety risk to improve internal and contractor systems has resulted in significant improvements to South African and Australian property risk profiles, and internal corporate and environmental safety standards. I have managed ICAM investigations, including hazardous areas, electrical compliance and ground control in minor and major international incidents and fatalities. Creating a new electronic risk assessment isolation and permit system, implemented across three minerals processing plants, I completed a step change in risk assessment isolation and permit quality, and trained users in specific control and facilitation of risk assessments. I have also completed a full Risk Business Impact Review on external relationships, developed a supply chain risk strategy and created risk-specific business continuity plans. A major Capital Project in a new world class risk identification isolation management and permit to work program across 3 sites, has effected a major change in overall on-site risk philosophies.

Risk Management Coordinator City of Melville, Melville WA, 2009 – 2011 SUMMARY: As Risk Management Coordinator, I introduced one of the largest local WA governments to a combined Health Safety and Environment (HSE) system concept, mirroring the Quality and Customer Service Strategy and establishing the integration of a business management system. Controlling the City’s self-insurance program I advised executive management and elected members on the placement of retail and reinsurance programs with Mutual and Captive industry insurance for 200+ products and services across 4 divisions, comprising urban planning, community development, technical services and corporate. Managing risk, I reduced lost-time injury frequency rates (LTIFR) by 40%, and decreased outstanding Workers Compensation claims to the lowest level in 15 years by applying aggressive safety risk management principles. I created the initial framework for International Organisation for Standardisation ISO 14001 quality assurance and quality management systems, AS/ NZ 4801 safety management systems, systems. Based on AS/NZ 4360 and ISO 31000 principles I developed and implemented a risk management framework through all business units within the City. I consulted on in house insurance and risk management matters, and managed loss related insurance risks to maximise recovery and minimise financial impact on the City, including the oversight of key relationships with external companies and State Government. Conducting detailed Risk assessments of all service areas and developing individual risk treatment strategies for inclusion in planning undertaken by each operating division, I developed a learning and education safety program for all staff.
