Vice President, Project Planning And DeploymentDirect Energy Jun 2002 - Jun 2004Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, CIO, responsible for the planning, management and deployment of operations and information services projects supporting the execution of business strategies across all North American markets. Responsible for the management of a capital budget of $74M and over 60 project management staff. Implemented technical solutions required to enable the residential services business to scale and leverage economies by centralizing administration of regional operations, establishing home offices for field staff and outsourcing parts logistics. The capital budget for the project was $11M and provided an ROI within 2 years resulting from operational improvements and staff reductions. Led the development of a new project management organization, structure and processes for the effective planning and delivery of projects using project and portfolio management structures to link business strategy, annual business planning and project prioritization. Managed 60+ Project Management staff to successfully implement over 100 projects in 2003 spanning four major North American markets. The relative operational maturity (start-up/acquisition, growth, mature) in each market was a key consideration in strategic planning and prioritization. The portfolio of projects was delivered 5% under budget with an actual spend of $40M in 2003. Nominated for the Centrica Platinum Award for Teamwork & Innovation in North America, 2003. -
Vice President, Information ServicesEnbridge Services Jan 2001 - Jun 2002Toronto, Canada AreaVice President, Information Services (2001 - 2002)Reporting to the President of Enbridge Services, responsible for the overall information services strategy and management of information services, customer billing and call center operations supporting retail stores, field customer service and retail energy operations. The annual operating budget was $14M with a capital budget of $15M. Led the Customer Operations and Information Services teams in the sale of the Enbridge Services business and the resulting due diligence efforts performed by Centrica PLC. Enbridge Services Inc. was sold to Centrica PLC in 2002. Led the restructuring and merger of information services resulting from the Centrica acquisition of Enbridge Services. Restructured and transitioned the Enbridge Services Information Services group to an integrated Information Services group in Direct Energy. This included the relocation of mission critical business applications to a new in-house data centre and internal support operation. The capital budget was $12M and the project was brought in two months early and under budget by $2M.
