Head of the Project Management Office (PMO) has the following areas of responsibility.Project Management Process: Creating and maintaining project management operating procedures and work instructions complying with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and PRINCE2. Project Assurance on all projects; performing project audits, and giving advice and guidance to project managers. Line management responsibility for project managers, ensuring suitable training and competency. Mentoring and supporting all those performing project management irrespective of whether it is their core role.Project Management: Managing specific high-risk and high-profile projects in accordance with the approved process. Ensuring at the outset there is a clear understanding amongst the senior stakeholders of the project’s goals, constraints, and tolerances. Defining roles and responsibilities for the members of the project team, identifying the competencies required and securing these from inside and outside the business. Managing project stages and overseeing work packages, leading agile teams, software and non-software, and undertaking the role of ScrumMaster as needed. Ensuring risks and issues are captured, appropriately assigned, properly assessed, and actively managed throughout the project life cycle. Forecasting and tracking costs and resource usage at a programme, project, and team level. Identifying and tracking capex expenditure for corporate accounting. Reporting project progress and health through project dashboards and paginated reports.Project Management business process automation and reporting: Using Microsoft SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automation, Power BI, Forms, Approvals, and Notifications, to create and maintain project management supporting systems.

Responsibility for IT strategy and systems development, initially reporting to the IT Director and then to the Managing Director. Line management of the software development team and latterly also the network team. Creation and adoption of a standard software development process. Personally created a desktop client app for creating and managing bookings. Managed an external development of a web system to do the same.

I was recruited as a BASIC developer on EPOS systems and shortly afterwards moved to Stores' ordering system written in COBOL. I took on the role of systems analyst for the next major software release to the ordering system, which enhanced the ordering process and incorporated more advanced stock management. In this role I gathered requirements from senior stakeholders and store colleagues, created functional design documentation, software specifications, and test plans. Following reassignments in the IT department I took on the role of project manager managing a team of 17 contracted developers and 3 employed developers.

I developed a piecework payroll system incorporating BACS transmission for payroll. I designed and developed a system for customers to call off stock using the Tradanet system. Principle customers were Marks & Spencer and Littlewoods.
