Responsible for establishing a new Arup office in Almaty and developing Arup’s Project Management capability and commercial development in Kazakhstan. Successful in winning new work with a fee value of over £5M in a developing commercial property / high rise market. Led the legal and financial team through the process of establishing a new Arup business entity in Kazakhstan through to lease of office space.Developed 4 year business plan and financial plan for new business entity. This business/financial plan was subsequently adopted as a model on similar ventures within the company.

Reporting to the Project Director, I was the Regional Project Manager on several large Electrical Power projects in the North and South of Iraq as well as Lead Civil Engineer for the whole Iraq Reconstruction Programme – Electrical Sector.Served as advisor to the US government on several bid review committees and conducted direct negotiations with contractors on procurement of over $300M worth of infrastructure work.As the client’s Project Manager on site, was responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects valued at $125 M throughout Northern Iraq. These projects included substations and overhead line projects in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Mosul, Dahuk and Tikrit. Project Manager on substation projects in the Basra province of Iraq. The projects were valued at $95M and included 400kV and 132 kV substations. Served as Parsons Brinkerhoff’s Lead Civil Engineer in Iraq responsible for the civil design reviews of 132 kV and 33 kV substations.Led on periodic risk assessments and risk audits on critical projects.

Iraq Reconstruction Programme; Surface Transportation specialist involved in the emergency assessment and reporting of war damage to infrastructure as part of USAID $680m program. The report formed the basis of the US Government’s decision to fund the multi billion dollar infrastructure repairs in Iraq.Engineering Manager during the bid stage of the A1 Gdansk – Torun Motorway in Poland. Responsible for constructability reviews, Project Execution Plan and value engineering audits.Responsible for successful bid for Project Management of rehabilitation works for the Highways Agency’s Second Severn Bridge Rehabilitation works. Project Manager during implementation phase.Seconded to the Thameslink 2000 project team and worked closely as part of the Network Rail integrated team to undertake an audit of the prevailing framework contract and to review the core deliverables and responsibilities in conjunction with the legal department.

Technical Manager, Czech Republic• Technical Manager based in Prague on the preparation of a PFI bid for the D47 Lipnik – Ostrava motorway in the Czech Republic. • Primarily responsible for the co-ordination of the schedules for the contract, implementation agreement and directly responsible for the preparation of technical schedules. • Also involved with the due diligence for the lenders technical advisers and preliminary phases of procurement.Design Manager, Kazakhstan• Design Manager in charge of co-coordinating the design of Bautino Oil Base extension in the Caspian oil field. • Liaising with a local design bureau regarding local adaptation of designs and coordinating design programme and tender documents with client.Project Manager / Team Leader, India• Team Leader for the final phase of a World Bank funded $1.3 billion state road improvement scheme in Tamil Nadu State, India.• Responsible for the delivery of the final design of 80 kms of highways and associated structures. Responsible for the drafting and delivery of all FIDIC contract tender documents and funding application to the World Bank on behalf of the client. • This phase of the project was completed successfully, on budget and to a tight schedule.Deputy Regional Project Manager, Greece.• Deputy Regional Project Manager Reporting directly to the Regional Project Manager on all aspects of the construction of nine major projects including tunnels and viaducts on the 270km Eastern section of the Egnatia Odos Motorway, Greece. • Responsible for the supervision of the Construction Management team, and for monitoring the progress and value of the works.• Responsible for reviewing and authorizing all contractor invoices and for final accounts on all completed projects. • Successfully implemented safety policy and ensured compliance with the safety and quality policies on the projects. In three years, there was only one reported serious accident on site.
