About Richard Corey
I am the Director of the VEMI Lab and Graduate Faculty member for the School of Computing and Information Science at the University of Maine. My background includes working as an entrepreneur who founded and ran an information marketing company for 16 years, I hold an MFA in Intermedia which focused on 3D Visualization and Interactive Media, as well as the first Ph.D. in the country in Collaborative Studies. Currently I manage, educate, and mentor 20 students in the VEMI Lab using experiential training and student-centric education techniques. I also lead all marketing and public relations efforts for the VEMI Lab which publicly educates 5000 people a year. My research studies Human Interactions with Technology including, HCI, UX, and Human Design. I'm currently exploring Human Vehicle Collaboration (HVC) at the VEMI Lab as a new dynamic area of study for our future with fully autonomous vehicles.
