About Richard Hamilton

Senior Managing Director at State Street, based between London and Boston. State Street is one of the global systemically important banks and I lead its sustainability and climate program, reporting to the Executive Committee. I lead a team across Risk, Finance, Data, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Policy and State Street Global Advisors.Prior to State Street and following my MBA, I spent five years with the UK Government and Royal Household followed by three years in Private Equity. My skill lies in working with CEOs on strategy implementation, bringing about transformation through relevance and purpose. I began my career on the Barclays graduate program, spending a decade at the Bank with leadership roles in Investment Management, Strategy and Sustainability, followed by eight years at KPMG. I have always held a public, civil society and cultural role alongside my business one, having variously been a member of a local authority, an NHS Trust non-executive director, and an advisor on arts governance, including as an independent panel member for UK public appointments. I am an experienced trustee with an interest in building the governance frameworks necessary for business, government and civil society to collaborate. I am passionate about music and the importance of music education. Having worked between the UK and US for almost all my working life, I am proud to be on the Advisory Board of the Queen Elizabeth II 9/11 Garden in New York as well as being a Trustee of The Royal Parks in London, where I chair the investment committee. A dual British-Irish citizen, I am a Vice Patron of the Festival of Voice in Ireland.
