Our practice at EnerNOC helped customers build energy management as a core competence. We focused on strategy, governance, process improvement, and employee/tenant engagement. We found that customers are much more likely to improve their energy performance when they have executive sponsorship, goals, KPIs, measurement, reporting, energy teams, and clear accountability. Because this is difficult for most organizations, we developed the tools and skills for customers to achieve sustainable success. I work with organizations across the maturity spectrum, from school districts who are just starting on this journey to global manufacturers with ISO 50001 certification.Challenge: Develop strategic practice in a dynamic growth environmentRecent projects include:• Strategic energy plan for national financial services firm with more than 1000 facilities to achieve aggressive 2020 sustainability goals• Comprehensive energy management program at global data center operator to control energy budgets and engage staff at all levels in reducing $100+ million energy spend• Strategic energy plan for leading US medical center to realize savings of up to $1 million in energy costs from efficiency, demand management, procurement, and onsite generation• Strategic energy management program for competitive survival of international pulp and paper producer, covering CapEx investment, operational change, and governance• National renewables study for global food processor to provide guidance on investment in solar, wind, geothermal, and bio-energy options • ISO 50001 implementation at Canadian wood pulp producer to show market leadership and to ensure persistent energy efficiency gains • Management workshops for Chinese manufacturers
