The Development and Engagement section of Swansea University is a high performing team working to maintain and enhance the University’s fundraising and development aspirations. The team are dedicated to the growth, advancement and prosperity of the University by raising awareness and showcasing University activity, developing key relationships with individuals, organisations and partners, and through raising philanthropic gifts from alumni and supporters of the University.

I have coached this team as first assistant and then Head Coach since 2007. I took the reigns of the side for the victorious 2007 Varsity Match. I assisted in 2007/08 and then took control from the summer of 2008. I have won 3 Varsity matches in this time as coach and achieved promotion to the Premier League in my first year, consolidated that position in the second year and coached the side to a top 4 position within the UK last season.I take pride in the number of players who attain professional contracts with a Welsh Region or contracts within the Welsh Premiership during their time at the University

I manage all aspects of the Athletic Union, from finances and budgeting to health and safety, commercial activity, marketing and publicity, healthy lifestyle campaigns, development and most importantly the delivery of excellent sport services. Since starting work back at the Athletic Union I feel I have driven the Union forward. I developed a Strategic Plan and from that have revised the staffing structure of the AU, initiated a ‘focus sport’ scheme and coaching structures for our teams, consequently raising our BUSA/BUCS performance, organised and hosted the British University Games, increased membership to the Athletic Union and developed a major kit range. Since taking the role my major success has been in fundraising where i have improved budgets available for sport through considerable gains in fundraising. I have also been seconded to the Vice Chancellors Department where I have written and implement a successful Aquatic Strategy and Sporting Strategy for the University. I have developed and improved major Athletic Union events including the Welsh Varsity Match, Freshers’ Fayre, the Annual Awards dinner and other events that run through the year.

Sports & Wellbeing Analytics believe in the virtues of rugby and aims to support the future of the game by helping to combat one of the major threats to the sport, Concussion Sports & Wellbeing Analytics is a Welsh company reared by real rugby people who care for the future of the game. Combining the latest technologies with research to deliver innovative solutions in sports welfareWe were founded in 2016 in Swansea, by a small group of largely local investors with the objective of applying the latest developments in science and technology to real world health and wellbeing problems using real time analytics for predictive intervention. We are working very closely with our partners at Swansea University, for the scientific research, Keytree Limited for the technology solutions, Philtronics for the electronic components and utilising an enterprise grade SAP Cloud Platform. The initial focus is on head impact for contact sports, specifically Rugby Union.

St Helens

I have directed Swansea's contribution to the Welsh Varsity since 2004. In this time we have seen the event grow and develop to the point that the 2011 event attracted over 15,500 supporters to the Millennium Stadium. Since its inception the Welsh Varsity has donated over £25,000 to charities.

Wales

I managed and coordinated all of the Welsh University National Teams organising their fixtures, kits, selections and trials, logistics and coaching teams. I managed the whole of the Welsh Delegate in British University Games in Swansea and Edinburgh. I also organised and directed the British University Games in Swansea.
