As an EMT within N.W.A.S, I have a privileged role in assisting in the delivery of high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care and patient transportation, responding to 999 emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions.This involves initiating appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in both hospital and pre-hospital environment, selecting and applying appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.To use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to and transport emergency and routine calls as required.I am also a trained member of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT). The primary role of SORT is to provide the Trusts decontamination capability response in the event of a terrorist attack involving the release of Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear (CBRN) material, or if there is an accidental release of Hazardous materials.

Fylde Coast CFR Group is a group of volunteer responders who are trained by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to respond to life threatening emergencies within the local community.Trained to carry and use a defibrillator, oxygen and oxygen therapy masks, pulse oximeter and basic dressings.Incidents attended:• Abdominal Pain• Allergic Reaction (limited range)• Chest Pain• Cardiac Arrest• Difficulty Breathing• Fitting• Diabetic episodes• Stroke (reduced range)• Unconscious patientCFRs must work within the scope of practice specified by North West Ambulance

JOB SUMMARY:To co-ordinate and manage the daily PTS journey plan using designated resources while maintaining quality standards and working within the contractual constraints.Responsible for ensuring efficient co-ordination of ambulance resources to move patients to and from hospital appointments.Provide professional customer support to both Hospital staff and patients.Handle queries relating to the non-emergency Patient Transport Service, inputting of patient bookings and the co-ordination of operational ambulance staff.Operate communications systems including telephones, radios, Mobile Data Systems and computer systems.
