About Richard Pierce
Hi, here’s a little bit about me which will hopefully explain where I’m coming from and how I might be able to help. At 50+, I’m still learning, and I care about trying to make a positive impact. I bring a wealth of experience from my background in Voluntary work, notably with Childline and Action for Children, Human Resources.My journey took an unexpected turn in 2018 when the convergence of workplace pressures, the decline in my father's health, and his diagnosis of dementia led to burnout and depression. This pivotal moment sparked my exploration into self-care, prompting my entry into therapy for the first time. Embracing change, I transitioned into self-employment as an HR Consultant while simultaneously taking on the role of a full-time carer.Humbled my own personal experience of therapy, I began a new journey completing several person-centred counselling qualifications and I have completed my PG Diploma Integrative Psychotherapy and am working towards my Masters degree. This educational journey is deeply personal, blending my work experience with a strong dedication to overall well-being. Local support groups have also played a pivotal role in my own growth. The connections made in these groups, particularly with fellow attendees, have been an inspiration. It's here that I've witnessed the benefits of mutual support through shared experiences and empathetic conversation.Now, at a stage where my personal and professional spheres are starting to merge, I am eager to contribute to my local community. I’d like to cultivate a network of like-minded individuals who recognise the profound benefits of collective support.
