Having trialled the idea in 2017, it proved to be a great success and so a small team of us have established a Community Interest Company to run the event on an annual basis. Approximately 1000 people attended the 2018 party which raised over £3000 for local organisations and charities.

TrusteeThe Nayamba Trust Apr 2016 - Jun 2021ExeterThis is a registered UK charity supporting Nayamba Primary School in a rural part of Zambia. Most of the 300 children at the school would not receive any education at all without this school which is entirely funded from donations. Recent improvements at the school include; installing electricity, a new more reliable water borehole, a daily food programme so that every child gets a hot porridge drink enriched with minerals and supplements, a library and (soon) a pre-school. We are currently raising £90k to fund the building of new classrooms, teachers houses and a sanitation block. So far, £80k has been raised which covers the classrooms and teachers houses. We still badly need to build a sanitation block with toilets and hand washing facilities to replace the 3 existing drop holes!

The hall was built as a war memorial following the ending of the 1st World War. I instigated a complete overhaul of the governance structure of how the trust operated to ensure that it complied with all Charity Commission requirements and best practice. At the same time, initiating an overhaul of the building itself through a programme of improvements to bring the hall up to date and fit for purpose in readiness for the 100th anniversary of the armistace in 2018.
