Financial Controller for Cooper BMW, a leading premium car retailer in the UK with turnover of c. £500m.Responsible for all aspects of finance for Cooper BMW, from balance sheet financial control and integrity through monthly reporting and forecasting to longer term strategic analysis.I line managed a team of 8 accountants with a further extended team of 34, and reported into the UK Finance Director of Inchcape plc.

Supporting the CEO of the European Hardlines business with financial control, analysis and insight. A complex and commercially focussed role requiring high levels of influence and communication. I had a team of 4 qualified accountants and 3 unqualified.

Having worked at Dixons for 5 years in finance and completed the Executive Development Programme, I was sponsored by the business to move sideways into the commercial team. I moved to Dixons Travel where I worked as a category manager.I enjoyed considerable success in the role, beating my sales, margin and supplier income target in both years whilst playing a key role in implementing a new high-density merchandising initiative.

A commercially facing role, responsibilities include:- Ownership of sales, margin, supplier income and stock reporting- Financial ownership of commercial forecasts including monthly commercial plan, budgets and quarterly re-forecasts- Specific business insights and analysis on parternship opportunities with service based suppliers, e.g. AOL- Financial control of stock valuation including accurate landed cost on OEM products, recognition of supplier funding and other commercial control accounts Additionally in this role I lead two change projects:- Project managing the IT team to build a data warehous to contain all supplier income terms, claims and credits- Managing the implementation of COGNOS for the PC World commercial plan, including scoping, design work and training of all users.

Responsibilities included- Consolidation of monthly management accounts- Drafting of notes for financial accounts at year end including production of consolidated cashflow statement- Liaison with auditors on several sections of the annual accountsWhilst in this role I also played a key role in the implementation of FRANGO management reporting system, including training of accountants throughout the business.

I worked at AWG plc for 10 months as a temporary contractor within the group finance department, after which I travelled for 6 months, visiting New Zealand, Australia, America and the French Alps.
