Family is what works to give children the best start in life. I work with leaders in countries across Europe to develop collaborative networks of people, churches and organisations that improve the lives of children at risk and orphans by helping them to be raised in a permanent, safe and nurturing family.After more than 30 years in leadership roles in the public sector, in private business and the voluntary sector, I bring my skills as a facilitative leader, leadership development specialist, a coach-mentor, and in getting things done, in service of my passion - the best upbringing for children for whom early life has been traumatic.I am moved by the situation of children unable to be with their birth family, many of whom around the world are raised in institutions of varying types. The right to family and the de-institutionalising of alternative care for children and orphans is enshrined in United Nations' declarations and resolutions. Because family is what works and is how we were designed.And even in countries that have a family based care system (kinship care, fostering, adoption), the number of available families is less than the number of children needing a family.
