As a UX Design student at Career Foundry, I completed projects for course work that presented several challenges to resolve. Language App - World PassportThe Challenge - Create a language learning application that solves problems users are having with existing appsThe Action - Competitive Analysis of existing apps teaching language skills. User interviews conducted revealed needs for cultural context, history and accents. The Result – Designed a low and mid-fidelity prototype of the World Passport app that took the approach of going on a trip. The itinerary became the structure for the lessons and created opportunities to insert lessons in culture and history. Additionally, in the audio playback of words and phrases, there were options for different speakers with different accents.Scavenger Hunt App - Kansas City Park AdventuresThe Challenge - Families who were both working and doing schooling at home were seeking more things to do outdoors. Create an app that uses the game of a scavenger hunt to introduce users to the individual features of each park in the Kansas City areaThe Action - Create User Personas. From an online survey that had over 30 participants. With in-person interviews, isolate common characteristics and life situations of people who were game players and involved in outdoor activities. Task Flows. The details of the User Personas were used to create task flows that would appeal to them and relate to their most immediate needs. These included – searching quickly for nearby parks, sorting by features and discovering new details. Results – Low, mid and high fidelity prototypes that are tested and improved through series of Usability tests and A/B testing in person and online. Improvements made over 5 iterations.

Non profit organization that promotes Free Play for children as a child development tool for handling risk, accepting responsibility and creativity.

Producing ongoing street performing stages at events in Cities. Duties include financial support development through grant writing, business sponsorships and ticket sales. Event production responsibilities include selection of artists, site development and sound and light support. Marketing duties include social media sites, web site design, print and press release design.

Our participation by vendors, sponsors and makers was up over the previous year and the attendance increased over the last 2 years.
