Lead the development and support of hospital cancer registry software and data quality tools to ensure efficient high quality and uniform case recognition, reporting, and data use, supporting all state reporting and American College of Surgeons’ registry operations requirements. This involves coordinating the resources provided by a variety of funding sources with overlapping requirements, including state, CDC projects, and individual reporting facilities. Conceive and initiate research projects and separately funded research and development contracts and grants that help underwrite improvements in cancer registry methodology and technology.Allocate or hire appropriate nationally dispersed personnel to oversee the data security of previously deployed systems, assuring that HIPAA standards are followed and are continuously monitored for potential vulnerabilities.Initiate new projects that respond to and anticipate the changing requirements of national and state standards for the front-end software.Participate in national standards groups including North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR), National Cancer Institute’s SEER Program, National Cancer Data Base (NCDB), and American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) to help anticipate changes to these standards.
