Recruited back to CS as the US Fixed Income Controls Lead, heading the US 2015 Operational Risk and Control Self-Assessment across Securitized Products, Global Macro, and the Strategic Resolution Unit. Next, established a comprehensive risk and control inventory covering all Fixed Income and Equities businesses. Improved data quality and management reporting by conceiving, designing and building the first Global Markets risk and controls inventory dashboard, eliminating dozens of manual and error-prone spreadsheets and aggregating thousands of front office risks and controls into a web-based portal. The dashboard highlights potential control weaknesses across FID and Equities, facilitates data quality and completeness assessments, reduces complexity by highlighting unnecessary redundant controls, and reduces the effort required to comply with risk and control testing, assessment and attestation policies.
● Led the Compliance Enhancement Program and achieved a regulatory ratings upgrade for the Bank by remediating gaps arising from LIBOR and achieving compliance with FRBNY SR 08-8. Managed 15 teams delivering a broad regulatory change agenda across trade surveillance, personal account dealing, outside business interests, large holdings, registrations, control room surveillance, political contributions, and regulatory change oversight.● Built a process that automated manual tracking of high-risk compliance control gaps and strategic plans. Increased efficiency by reducing from four to one the staff required to track and report on nearly 200 actions and mitigated risk by processing over 7,500 plan updates in Corporate Banking, Country Coverage, Wealth, Commodities, Emerging Markets, Equities, and Foreign Exchange.● Established project initiation, governance, risk, change, and closeout standards for the global Compliance PMO, resulting in greater resource management and the allocation of costs across the portfolio of projects.● Led the team that developed project management and business analyst career paths, resulting in greater interest in these roles and improved employee engagement as gauged through the annual employee engagement survey.● Built the Compliance Change budget and allocation model.
● Led key projects across a global team of 300+ risk and control, information security, records management, vendor management, and business continuity professionals spanning 31 countries. Also managed the budget ($51M), communications, strategy, resolution planning, human resource and real-estate functions as the Chief of Staff to the global head of Institutional Technology Risk and Control.● Conceived, designed and built Citi’s first automated reporting platform (Master Information Technology Risk Engine, MITRE) that linked risk and control source systems to front office business processes resulting in an end-to-end integrated view of business process control weaknesses.
