I work across the business, focussing primarily on pre-construction but also being actively involved in business development, financial and commercial management, operational delivery and general business strategy.Nevada works extensively in the education, healthcare, commercial, heritage and residential sectors, and have gained an enviable reputation for completing some challenging schemes. Many of the projects have been completed whilst working in and maintaining a live environment, specifically on the education and healthcare projects. Working within the Wales and West division my role was to lead and manage multiple concurrent bid submissions. Projects were largely framework based, usually under the Scape, SCF or Procurement Hub frameworks, and typically within the value range of between c.£2M and c.£40M. Submissions were in the form of feasibility studies through to full tenders.My all-encompassing role includes the development of the bid strategy, risk analysis, management of the internal and external teams, coordination and preparation of submission documents and handover to the construction teams. I also have the responsibility for managing the Customer interface including all appropriate messaging associated with the progress and delivery of the bid.

Trading as ebc the business works across the South West carrying out a variety of schemes in the industrial, commercial, education and residential sectors, both new build and refurbishment, and typically valued in the £1M - £10M range. My role was to lead the commercial team who operate from offices in Newton Abbot and Truro whilst also assisting with the wider development of the business.

Following a takeover in February 2018 the SWH business became a wholly owned subsidiary of Eurovia UK. The SWH business was then sub-divided to align itself with the organisational structure of the wider Eurovia business, the key elements being Contracting and Services. My role was to lead and manage the Contracting division along with the central overhead functions. The division was able to deliver a wide range of services within the Building, Civil Engineering, Surfacing and Traffic Management sectors, and had an annual turnover of c.£40M p.a. working across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire.As part of the Eurovia group we were able to draw on the expertise and support of a national business whilst maintaining a regional presence and identity.

In April 2017, as part of a business restructure I took overall responsibility for all activities carried out by the trading brands of the SWH business [formally registered as South West Highways Limited], these being SWH Build, SWH Civils, SWH Training, Plymouth Highways and SWH/BBIS JV.With an annual turnover of c.£45M the business operates across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset & Dorset with offices in Exeter, Plymouth & Poole.In February 2018 SWH became a wholly owned subsidiary of Eurovia UK Limited.

Following a restructure of the South West Highways Limited business I took on the leadership role for a newly established subsidiary business. SWH Construction Limited brought together the existing, and well established brands of SWH Build, SWH Civils and SWH Signs, operating across the South West Peninsula from its network of regional offices in Devon and Dorset.In addition to my lead role within SWH Construction Limited, I also became a Director of South West Highways Limited, being the parent company of the construction business.

I had a dual role [as noted below] within the Contracts Division of South West Highways Limited [SWH], which is a multi-disciplinary contractor based and operating within the South West peninsula. The division had an annual turnover in the order of £35M p.a. completing a wide range of Building, Civil Engineering & Surfacing projects.Build Manager - responsible for the leadership of the Build department, including business strategy & planning, business development, co-ordination of the estimating & preconstruction phase, followed then by project delivery. The department enjoyed steady and sustainable growth, with sales increasing from £4M in 2011 to £10M in 2014. We completed a number of projects in the education sector [including special needs facilities] together with other projects in the industrial, commercial, health and retail sectors. These were delivered from our established offices in Exeter, Poole and Plymouth.Commercial Manager [Contracts Department] - responsible for the administration of Contract documentation including bonds & collateral warranties, management reports for the Board, project CVR reporting and general commercial advice during all stages of the process.

Responsible for the commercial function of the Plymouth Business Unit.

Managing the commercial function of the Contracts department. The department had a turnover of circa £30M per annum, within five individual business streams [Building / Building Maintenance / Civil Engineering / Structures & Surfacing]. Reporting to the board, my responsibilities included financial reporting, forecasting, coordination of warranty & bond requirements, business development and other more generic management functions.

Commercial management of the Devon & Cornwall region, with an annual turnover of c.£25M generated largely from the education and medium rise residential sectors.

During my time with BAM [previously known as HBG] I worked on a £16.5M D&B student accommodation and facilities building in Exeter and was responsible for managing the commercial function, being site based within the dedicated project management team, reporting to the Commercial Manager. Following the completion of this project I then became involved in the early stages of a two stage negotation for a £30M university building in Plymouth.

During my progression to a management position within the surveying discipline I gained a wealth of experience, having carried out a site based function for many years on both building and civil engineering contracts. As a Senior Surveyor I became responsible for a small team of Assistant / Quantity Surveyors and therefore the overall responsibility for a number of consecutively run contracts.
