My years of interaction with students in higher ed as IT support and IT Manager, as well as my heightened awareness of cybersecurity breaches and risks to the government, business and infrastructure have led me to research of cyber education, including the widening cybersecurity skills gap, in order to determine how I can help. As more business, government and financial processes are digitized and re-energized for increased utility, analysis and development, more workers will be needed with technology skills. The US is running behind in cyber and we need to seriously look at ways to improve cyber education, making it more efficient, engaging and desirable as a career. We cannot afford to allow our progress to be overrun by hackers, cyber criminals, non-standardized cyber education, or inattentive oversight. I welcome association with cyber instructors with novel, effective approaches, cybersecurity education groups, cyber students and their parents. I will do what is required to improve cyber safety education, speak to concerned parties, and to upgrade access to technology and cybersecurity education across economic and social barriers from Kindergarten through High School.
