Background image is an example of light painting with an Arduino powered rig I built.I am a maker and a teacher.My interests revolve around making and the maker ethos. I am excited to see the tools of fabrication and creation of electronics going through a process of democratization. With access to 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC machines at university, community and library makerspaces, as well as the availability of low cost, accessible microcontrollers, there is great opportunity for people to create things that would have been out of reach for most of us in the recent past.At Boston College I teach hands-on communication courses, coaching students on the tools and techniques of media creation. In a previous full-time position at BC I was responsible for hiring and training a team of student employees for the Video Services office, which provides services for students, staff and faculty. I also have experience with more informal training of community members in Somerville, as well as developing and scheduling classes.
