About Richie Turner

Highly experienced in developing new projects and partnerships; devising new business growth and new business models; and bringing the latest thinking from innovation and entrepreneurship into new and existing businesses and public sector organisations. My work at the University of South Wales includes managing the award winning Startup Stiwdio graduate entrepreneurship programmes across the universities 3 incubators and external partnership projects; and I have privilege and responsibility to be a Race Equality Champion chairing the overall university's work on securing a Race Equality Charter.I also run an arts and creative industries research and consultancy and policy development company - Richie Turner Associates Ltd - that works mainly to improve equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement for key public sector organisations across the UK, such as the four UK Arts Councils, BFI, Amgueddfa Cymru and Powys County Council.Richie Turner Associates has also worked with several arts organisations around business development and fund raising strategies. Between 2008 and 2013 I jointly established the Global Academy at the University of Wales. Quickly growing this into one of Wales' best known innovation programmes across the world; with partners ranging from MIT Industrial Liaison Program and the Irish Technology Leadership Group in Silicon Valley. Global Academy created the Prince of Wales Innovation Scholarships, and had collaborative research projects with NESTA, Turku University (Finland), Gothenburg University (Sweden) and EM Business School Lyon (France).I have also undertaken innovation and business development projects with arts and creative industry organisations such as S4C (Welsh language TV Broadcaster), Butetown History & Arts Centre (Cardiff) and TaikaBox Dance (Finland) and Operasonic (Newport, Wales).Specialties: Innovation, Startups, R&D, Entrepreneurship, Public sector innovation, Business Development, Diversity, Global Networking, Business and Academic Collaboration, Arts and Creative Industries
