I have worked in the nonprofit world for 25 years. In that time, I have led and implemented fundraising efforts securing more than $350 million in revenue; and communications efforts reaching hundreds of millions through earned media and social media channels. In 2015, I left a longtime nonprofit leadership position to strike off on my own as a consultant so I could be more present in the daily lives of my two young kids. Today I work with a small handful of clients on traditional and extended project-based fundraising and revenue-generating efforts, mainly focused on developing a nonprofit's overall Advancement efforts and structural capabilities, sponsorships and new revenue sources, Board development, and communications related to generating awareness and revenue. But I also work at the intersection of the gig economy and fundraising. Taking on clients for well-defined, often brief, economical and strategically-timed efforts to put forward their best work in the best channels possible to make their impact rise. Most recently I have also begun working with nonprofit funders to help raise visibility and awareness of their support within their communities. As the Principal at Rising Tide Strategic Consultants, I am thrilled every day to work with nonprofits, companies, foundations and philanthropists of all shapes and sizes to help guide and build financial support and awareness for their mission-driven work tackling big challenges and opportunities. It is gratifying to work with so many inspiring clients and colleagues delivering real and important impact. With my wife, I also own and manage a small real estate development and management company, Washington Mountain.
