Served as Senior Advisor on a consulting basis for the Society on various projects, Highlights include:• Developing, implementing and leading communication and fundraising strategy and process to identify and secure partnership agreement and contract with the exclusive title sponsor of the Society's renowned Science Talent Search o Resulted in 10-year, $100 million sponsorship for the Science Talent Search o Managed communications roll out of search and new sponsor announcement• Securing renewal of a title sponsor for another competition of the Society, at favorable terms including a 40% increase in funding and a six-year commitment totaling more than $11 million• Advising on staffing and overall planning for fundraising, communications, and marketing for the Society

Built and led the External Affairs department, focusing on efforts to develop awareness and financial support for the Society's activities. Selected highlights include:1. Secured more than $150 million in revenue through new sponsorships, partnerships, advertising, endowment, and other funding activities, including developing and overseeing several new efforts delivering unrestricted funding. 2. Created individual giving effort, with more than 15,000 donations up to 7-figure level made since launch of effort in 2010, including more than 5,000 in the last year.3. Led renaming and re-branding of the Society; relaunch of award-winning Science News for Students online publication; re-branding of three lead educational competitions.4. Managed build, alignment, and development of External Affairs Department from staff of one to current staffing level of ten employees.5. Development and oversight of communications efforts reaching more than 200,000 newsletter subscribers, more than four million social media followers, and more than one million online viewers monthly. 6. Selection and org-wide integration of website CMS (Blackbaud NetCommunity) and fundraising database (Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge) with now over 600,000 records.

At the request of the Society's Board of Trustees, I was responsible for all internal and external operations of the Society including oversight of 65 employees and a $21 million operating budget.

Responsible for 12% increase in organizational foundation support from 2001 to 2002, and 14%overall revenue increase from 2002 to 2003.2. Secured $455K in sponsorship revenue for Inaugural National Conference, above original goal of $300K (event delivered $147K in unrestricted revenue over expense). Enlisted 28 corporate conference partners at levels from $5K-25K in first year.3. Oversaw efforts with alliance member organizations to develop national fundraising and marketing programs.4. Established individual donor and workplace giving campaign, including creation and maintenanceof donor database.

Select employment highlights:1. Secured organization’s first multi-year grants including a three-year $150K grant, and a three-year $750K project grant from an Anonymous Donor.2. Generated consistent 2-3% increase in response rate to semi-annual individual donor solicitations.
