I repair and design panels as well as build and test them. The company is tied in with an independent software house that specialises in SIEMENS, OMRON, and ROCKWELL so we are very much covered regarding the control systems we work with. We are also able to supply a range of automation parts from the likes of SICK, TURK-BANNER, SIEMENS, OMRON, PHOENIX CONTACT, IFM if required. I have got together with one of the manufacturers and got approval on an industrial data logging system with a 5 year warranty, which can be used as a remote server for security, factory monitoring etc. We are also requested to maintain AFOS equipment such as smoking kilns, defrosters and drying systems which still involves world wide travel, long hours but happy customers. As a company we are also able to supply any spares that are required and have even done complete overhauls and upgrades with new panels, data logging and remote access as well as energy monitoring.

I started out as a general service engineer both servicing and installing equipment in pathology labs and mortuaries with occasional work in the food side of the company working on kilns, defrosters and drying systems. After several years the main focus changed from the medical to the food side of the business as a trouble shooting engineer as well requiring more world wide travel including places such as Finland, Norway, France, Belgium, Italy, Bermeo, USA as well as more local areas such as Scotland and Ireland. The work involved not only the installation of industrial smoking kilns, defrosters and dryers but also upgrades, full re-wires, commissioning, re-builds and also software specifications for the processes involved. This was all done for a wide range of customers from Morrison's in Grimsby, Ewings in Belfast, Whole-foods in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Spence in Brockton, New England seafood's in Chessington and McKnight in Florida to name a few.

Designing and building test 'rigs' for checking both equipment and software that was being developed for the gaming industries. Other responsibilities centred around equipment repairs down to board level and also installation and repair of a wide range of equipment from servers, to money handling systems as well as full colour multiplexed screens.
