Rick's professional sports experience includes over 2200 games and events in which he’s worked closely with sports medicine staffs, and coordinated the game time EMS coverage for their athletes. Rick became a paramedic for the Phoenix Fire Department in 1985, and began working as a professional sports paramedic in 1991. He’s worked closely with the NHL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, the Arena Football League and Division 1 college programs. Rick is currently a member of the NHL's Medical Standards Subcommittee. The PRO SPORTS EMS (PSE) team is comprised of current and retired Phoenix Fire Department Paramedics, many of which are military veterans.PSE’s mission is to provide personalized EMS care, relevant EMS training, and specialized EMS equipment for SportsMed teams. PSE’s objective is to improve Player Safety through Emergency Action Planning. PSE's specialties include: 1) Improving EMS performance and coordinating the game time EMS care for sports teams/athletes.PSE currently coordinates the EMS program for the NHL Arizona Coyotes, and Arizona State University’s Football, Hockey and Wrestling programs. 2) Developing customized EMS equipment and mobile applications for sports med staffs.
