I also had a part-time role on Flexible Packaging magazine that included a three-month stint as Editor in Chief in summer 2010.I assumed the role of FBP's Editor in Chief in April 2011 and was responsible for the editorial content and direction for the print magazine as well as the monthly 45,000 circulation print issue, www.foodandbeveragepackaging.com website, 2+ monthly eNewsletters and other media. I wrote and edited features and articles related to packaging machinery, materials and packages, marketing and design, services, industry trends and issues and technology. I also fielded and produced podcasts and blogs/columns with packaging experts. I helped hire one Editor in Chief and hired and managed one Associate Editor while at BNP.Some highlights:* Used Content Management System (CMS) software for website content and Exact Target eNews software.* Provided on-site support for Packaging Strategies’ conferences and contributed to twice-monthly paid-circulation PS eNews.* Served on select invitation-only judging committee for the 2010 and 2011 PMMI Packaging Hall of Fame awards, the highest recognition in the field of packaging.

With a knack for and love of writing, I made a successful jump from industry into trade journal editorial with Prepared Foods magazine covering food industry news from the production side. It was a magazine that I was familiar with from the reader side while in technical services at the R.T French Co. so this was an especially gratifying career switch.I also took the lead role for the magazine's coverage of packaging and, later, managed the production editorial and automation subsection. Besides writing features and news and other content, I traveled extensively in fielding in-plant features and attending trade shows and other industry events.

Plant was subsequently sold to Pillsbury.* Ran various lab-, pilot plant-, and plant-level projects.* Managed pilot plant portions of the development of a dehydrated potato product for foodservice markets and directed a staff of two in those efforts.* Participated in monitoring and subsequent evaluation of Focus Group testing of new hash browns potato product in Orange County, CA.

Major corn wet-milling facility that produced fructose, dextrose and related products from corn. Approximately 1,500 employees. Former Clinton Corn Processing Co. owned by Standard Brands that merged with Nabisco to form Nabisco Brands; in 1982 facility was sold to Archer Daniels Midland.* Worked as part of a team of six technicians conducting pilot plant and production-level work for six chemical engineers. * Set-up, monitored, and collected data for process development projects and offered project improvement ideas.* Operation of various processes that included filtration, liquefaction, and evaporation equipment.* Selected to be part of a small team for a production plant start-up in Montezuma, NY.
