Developed the HR and IR strategy for all the phases of the new projects through to operations including the project, construction, start-up and operational phases. Prepared the Support Services Business Readiness Plan and all the HR/IR project deliverables including Operating Model, Staffing, Organisation Capability, Human Resource Impact, Staffing & Training, Organisational Philosophy, Cross-Cultural Considerations, Labour Relations Strategy, Productivity, Recruitment and Learning & Development Plans, Total Compensation, Statutory Obligations, Business Readiness Plan, Project Execution Plan and the Stage Gate Report.Responsible for analysing and benchmarking the total labour costs and the support services departments’ costs. Liaising with Project, Regional and Site management to develop strategies to lower the unit costs for the projects which resulted in improving return on investment and maximising shareholder returns.More recently my scope has been extended to include the coordination of the Stage 3 Business Readiness Plan for the entire project.

Engaged as a contractor to assist in closing out the $8B phase one of the Santos GLNG project. I was responsible for the handover of the project’s non-construction assets and surplus construction materials to the client. The role involved developing a strong working relationship with the client, various sub-contractors and other stakeholders to formulate plans and schedules to facilitate the work. Under difficult circumstances this approach resulted in a very efficient and effective process in which we were able to present the assets and surplus construction materials to the client ahead of schedule.

Westbury

I was originally employed to implement the provisions of AAS27 for Council and coordinate the recognition of its assets and bring them to account. This involved a sophisticated degree of research and analysis to determine the most cost effective outcome for Council culminating in a written report consisting of the legal basis and accounting theory justifying our approach. The report was signed off by an independent third party expert and approved by the Auditor General albeit my methodology didn’t align exactly with his preferred model. I was also heavily involved in Council’s adoption of National Competition Policy including its restructure to accommodate those changes and the creation of the systems and controls to ensure the organisation’s compliance with its legislative obligations. I developed, presented and argued our case based on financial and economic grounds at the Tasmanian Local Government Hearings on Council Amalgamations. My normal duties were to manage all aspects of Council’s accounting function including preparation of the statutory accounts, month end reporting, budget variance analysis, and project cost control of Council’s capital and maintenance works programs.

Managed the commercial and accounting functions of Webster’s Machinery Division including budgeting; month end reporting; variance analysis; financial analysis of capital investment proposals, including mergers and acquisitions; and the preparation of various board reports.Immediately after being employed I was appointed as a team member to formulate and implement a business improvement program for the division. This program was very successful and as a consequence transformed the worst performing division of Webster into its most profitable business unit and paved the way for a number of acquisitions of our competitors as we increased market share.
