His background is very diverse having had experience with claims and litigation in the areas of premises liability, product liability, construction accidents, trucking accidents, automobile accidents, landlord-tenant disputes, workers compensation claims, employment disputes, insurance coverage disputes, public entity claims, and business litigation.Rick has lived in the Sacramento area since 1979. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1974 with a degree in education he began working in the claims industry. Initially, Rick worked for the General Adjustment Bureau (GAB) investigating and handling fire losses and casualty claims. From 1984 to 1994 Rick was employed as a claim and litigation supervisor working with many of the same lawyers, claims personnel and experts he still works with as a lawyer. Attending Lincoln Law School of Sacramento at night between 1990 and 1994, while working full-time at The Hartford, Rick became a member of the California Bar in 1994 and has practiced law throughout California since. Rick has worked both as in-house counsel and for private law firms working primarily for the defense but occasionally handling select personal injury claims representing the injured party. Rick is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Central and Northern Districts of California. He is a member of the California State Bar Association, Sacramento County Bar Association and Association of Defense Counsel. With experience in trial, arbitration and mediation, Rick’s focus is upon civility with all counsel, while being a zealous advocate for his clients, seeking prompt, reasonable and economical resolution of disputes.
