Material/Analytical Chemist
We are a truly translational research lab, combining nanoparticle/organic synthesis with biodevice design, building and testing. Through advanced electrochemical and optical intrumentation, we can detect and identify biomarkers for cancer, DNA/RNA for viruses and different molecular targets. I am particularly interested in combining my extensive experiences with nanotechnology and drug design in a theranostics applications for the detection and treatment of human diseases.
Chemist -Antibiotic Development
My active area of research is to develop antibiotics which target trans-translation in bacteria. Using my skills in organic synthesis allows us understand the structure activity relationship of these compounds and to study their effects on bacterial physiology. Our output is lead compounds with known mechanism of actions with strong possibilities for clinical development as antibiotic drugs.
Synthetic Material Chemist
I focused on the synthesis of photoluminescent semiconductor nanocrystals ( quantum dots). Our effort was to replace cadmium in their composition in order to improve safety concerns. I developed new synthesis strategies and studied the effects of surface chemistry on their properties.
