CurrentManage Traffic Division of Public Works Dept. Responsible for design, operation and maintenance of traffic control devices and street lighting; transportation planning; travel demand management; support of development review and Capital Improvement Projects; regional coordination on transportation issues; Manage 4 professional staff and $2.4 million operating budget. Accomplishments: Managed budget to within 5% under 22 of 24 years. Updated signal timing every three years as system grew from 39 to 82 signals Implemented Washington's first two-lane roundabout. Streamlined development review procedures for transportation impacts and mitigation measures. Updated Transportation Element of Comprehensive Plan to include updated street standards, access management standards, transit and non-motorized plans. Implemented Concurrency Management Program by conducting impact analyses in-house, saving developers time and money and funding an additional staff person and a traffic count program, developing Traffic Impact Fee system with funding mechanism for travel demand model updates. Implemented Washington's first Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons to improve pedestrian safety at mid-block arterial locations.
