I provided leadership, emergency services and administration for our 84 sq. mile, 180 member Fire District including fire/rescue, emergency medical services/advanced life support transport, fire and life safety, emergency management, beach safety and homeland security. The Fire Rescue Operations Chief, Assistant Fire Chief of Support Operations, Fire Marshal, Beach Safety Director and Fiscal Officer reported to me. After 41 years of active service, I served as an elected fire commissioner for the South Walton Fire District from 2019-2021Specialties: I have lectured locally and nationally on fire service incident management disaster response, leadership, government relations and public policy. I served as one of two fire service representatives on Florida's Governor's Domestic Security Oversight Council. I previously served as a technical advisor on the International Association of Fire Chiefs' Association's Intrastate Mutual Aid System (IMAS) Committee to work with identified project states on their IMAS planning processes to develop or enhance their statewide mutual aid plans. I am past president of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association and served as vice chairman of the Florida Fire and Emergency Services Foundation. I most recently served as a board member for the Florida Association of Special Districts.I currently provide and facilitate chief fire officer education and leadership programs and serve as a fire and emergency services consultant.
