About Amanda Riggs
I completed my Juris Doctor degree in 2012 which allowed me to develop strong research, drafting and analytical skills through coursework in legal research and legal writing. At California Western School of Law, I demonstrated leadership ability by serving as the president for the Child, Family, and Elder Law Society. In this effort, I sharpened my ability to make sound decisions, plan and organize my time, work well on a team, and strengthened the interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills I gained during my undergraduate education. During my final semester of law school, I completed a clinical internship with the San Diego County Counsel Juvenile Dependency Division. Through that internship, in addition to presenting court arguments in hearings and trials, I researched case law and statutes in order to author an appellate response that I later successfully argued in front of the California Court of Appeals. After completing the California State Bar Exam, I opened my own law practice. As a solo practitioner, I further honed the legal practice skills I gained in law school by identifying and gathering relevant case law to best present my clients’ cases to the court. I was also responsible for interviewing clients and witnesses, analyzing complex legal issues, and maintaining organization of all firm related documents. Although my prior practice experience was in the substantive area of family law, it provided me with a universal skill set in legal research, authoring legal documents, counseling clients, and appearing in court.I maintain good standing with the California Bar Association. I am voluntarily registered as inactive due to my location outside the state. I practice as an active Colorado attorney.
Listed skills include Westlaw, Legal Research, Lexis, Hearings, and 41 others.
