I checked out books at the library and then typed in what I saw. No mentor. No help. Just God moving me along. It wasn't paid. It wasn't a job. It was work. I had the discipline at 12 to keep at it.I had a violent alcoholic mom who's abusive husband didn't want me around. Later, she tried to kill a man... twice. It was under those conditions that I started learning a craft that continues today: I am a computer man.The work that I do with my hands is Craft Information Systems. At 12, I learned discipline, how to study, follow technical instructions, software testing, reverse software engineering, and the very basics of computer operations. In the years that followed, as a kid, I was known for taking electronic devices that people threw-away and desoldering them for fun. I made my own toys from them. For example, a discarded tape player was modified to be a space ship for action figures. Folded paper was used to make space rocket models... a nickel, bits of wire, and batteries became an experiment in electroplating. Then there was the time I made the lights in the house dim... that was a shocking experience. So, when I say that I have over 30 years experience, it is truth. And, I have the emotional scars that remind me of the level of fortitude that was required to do what I did that Summer. I began to learn my craft. So, if I come across as condescending, you had better check your ego. Because, you are confusing confidence with something else. I know where I have been. I am not afraid of change. And, I rise to the occasion when times get tough. That summer taught me alot about life. Lessons that I use even today. Show less
